Few over the air DVR choices?

Twenty years ago several manufactures offered 25 VCR s to
choose from. Now with digital TV I expected to see more
to choose from for over the air recording. One Magnavox
at Walmart, two Panasonic DVD recorders and TIVO at
Best Buy. Also the Dish Network DVR with its checkered
online reviews. I’m guessing most people have cable, I
don’t plan on it. Any guess if the price will come down?
I’ve seen a few Pansonic DVD recorders come back to the
store. Do DVD recorders easy to rewind and FF? I know
the converter box and VCR not the perfect marriage, but
you can’t beat the price. I use both the Zinwell and Dish
Network TVPal converter boxes with a eight event timer.
Any thoughts on this subject?

My DTV box won’t work with cable?

My stupid cable company decided to switch to digital. so, even though we’ve got cable in my house, we still need converters. we bought two converter boxes with our coiupons, and now they won’t work with my cable for some reason. is there any way i can add something or modify something for them to work? I HATE DTV 2009!! Since our VCRs are almost useless after the transition even though we pay around /month for cable, we were literally forced to buy their dvr or a tivo (we picked a tivo hd) because the stupid vcr could only tune one channel. Now back to the topic- can i modify them to work with cable? i don’t understand why they won’t work with my cable.

i explained in my question that unhooking my box would lose my connection.

i am also blaming my stupid cable company for switching to dtv to make more money off of us.
we cannot swtich to antenna because we wouild lose some channels and we cannot switch to dish/sattelite beucase then our brand new tivos would not work.

Question about recording digital video….?

I don’t have cable or satellite. I bought a digital converter but now I can’t use my vcr to record. is there any way I can record tv shows? ’cause all the dvr-s require cable or satellite connections and also a subcription to their services…..or am I kind of out of luck?
