What do I need to know about TV Tuner cards?

What do I need to know about the signal before I buy a TV Tuner card for my computer?
I only plan to watch, but recording and DVR sound nice.
Anyways, what do I need to know about the signal?
I already know that:
"The signal is digital, provided by Comcast. The room has one digital converter box to provide basic cable to the room."
Is that enough to know which card to buy?

Few over the air DVR choices?

Twenty years ago several manufactures offered 25 VCR s to
choose from. Now with digital TV I expected to see more
to choose from for over the air recording. One Magnavox
at Walmart, two Panasonic DVD recorders and TIVO at
Best Buy. Also the Dish Network DVR with its checkered
online reviews. I’m guessing most people have cable, I
don’t plan on it. Any guess if the price will come down?
I’ve seen a few Pansonic DVD recorders come back to the
store. Do DVD recorders easy to rewind and FF? I know
the converter box and VCR not the perfect marriage, but
you can’t beat the price. I use both the Zinwell and Dish
Network TVPal converter boxes with a eight event timer.
Any thoughts on this subject?

DVR without cable a possibility?

I have a TV with a converter box so I get digital channels over my local cable. I don’t want to get cable (most of the stuff I watch is over network TV anyway) but would like to have the capabilities that DVR offers (rewinding, pausing, recording and being able to watch something later). Do I have any options other than buying a subscription to a service like DirecTV or Dish?

Comcast HD converter box problem?

I have a comcast HD box/DVR. I have it hooked to my Sanyo HDTV with your standard rca hook up cord (red, white, yellow) The Picture is nice and I plan on getting an HDMI cord next week, but the picture isn’t my problem.
