Moving a DishNetwork DVR from one spot to another?
We want to move our TV from the office to the living room, and when we moved the DVR and hooked it all up, it just did a "Looking for satellite signal" screen for like 20 minutes.
Is the DVR supposed to stay in the same place the whole time? Do I have to call DishNetwork to have them move it for me?
I took the ONE cable out of the wall and plugged it in to the new location.
I have no idea what the rest of that means, though…

It sounds like you don’t realize that just any cable connection on any random wall plate that you screw your DISH receiver to, is very unlikely to be connected to the satellite dish on your roof. That’s why you don’t have any satellite reception. When you have DISH installed, they don’t wire up your whole house to the satellite dish antenna… they wire up only the locations where the DISH receivers are installed.
What you need to do is find the other end of the cable that is connected to the wall-plate that you connected your DISH receiver to, and connect that cable to the satellite dish instead of the one that goes to the room where you are moving the receiver from.
